There was a state Vizsla "MeetUp" Easter weekend at the Elkton shows with a terrific group of Vs shown by several of the state's top breeders.
SATURDAY, APRIL 7: We entered Jack in his first puppy class at the Greater Orange Park Dog Club show in Elkton, Florida. After bouncing around just a bit as Judge Jane Roppolo gave him a review and awarded Jack his very first blue ribbon. Two of Jack's full siblings, sister "Stevie" and brother "Doobie" joined him at the show with their proud people parents Mike and Jan! Jack's cousin, "Mac" (GCH Bluewater's Fionn Mac Cumhaill of Skipfire RA) was cheered on by owner Laurel Medley and was selected as Best of Breed. Even his Jack's maternal grandmother, senior "Shannon" (Ch Skipfire's Shannon Echo JH NA OAJ) made an appearance in the veterans class and was treated to a round of applause from the ringside audience. Shannon also took Veterans Group 1 placement - showing her grandkids she can still strut her stuff!
Polly was entered in the champions class and shown by her breeder, Marie Brumbaugh. Judge Roppolo awarded Polly a Select ribbon (apparently 4 pts major), so she is now advancing toward a potential grand champion designation. Polly's half-sister and another "Rocket"-baby (Woods Afire Battle for Hue JH) posted a 4-pt major Win for Patty Hart!
Bev McDonald was also in attendance with Polly's half-brother, the handsome "Luka" GCH Upfront Luka Me Now RN JH.
SUNDAY, APRIL 8: Because the a.m. V breed class conflicted with Easter Sunday church services, Jack was not shown. Marie took Polly into the ring in the champions class and received a Best of Opposite Sex (BOS) in breed award from Judge Linda Robey. Jack's full sister "Stevie" earned a blue ribbon in her puppy class. Jack's cousin, "Mac" took the Best of Breed award.
